The last three nights I've been on call, but this morning at 6:45 it was over, and I rolled myself out of my call room top bunk and drove home. Every time I woke up, I was hungry, so I kept eating. It feels weird to eat in the middle of the night when I'm at work, so I don't. I had 3 deliveries, so I'm now up to 275. For one of them, I was pushing in another room and they called me out and said, "we need you next door!" so I went and caught a different baby and then ran back to the first room. I delivered my first female circumcision patient. Honestly, I was staring at her for awhile before I figured out that's why it looked like that. (It was like 3am, so you should probably give me a break.)
I still really like the midwives I'm working with.
They are taking me off orientation a little sooner than I expected...I hope I'll be okay when the time comes.
I've started reading again, which has been fun. The library here is way better than the Dalton one, so it's easier to find good stuff.
It turns out Manny is not going to be able to move in with me. I was disappointed when I found out, but I've lived alone before. I suppose I can do it again now. And maybe someone else will turn up.
Do you know what is so good? Hershey's chocolate milk. Kevin got some little boxes of it at Costco and I drink it every time I go to his house.
It seems like it's easier for me to cry these days...at church, watching tv, or whatever. I'm not sad, I really like my life here, it just feels like there are fewer steps in between crying and not. I'll be like watching The Biggest Loser with Kevin, and I'll have a little one waiting in my eye. Or sometimes if I pay too much attention to the sermon or the songs in church, and I'm thinking about what all that stuff means, I sort of want to cry. Don't really know what that is. Maybe because I'm getting old.
For Thanksgiving I hung out with Nicky and her family and those Moons, Joe and Darcee. We ate lots of good food and played with kids and talked about everything. I can't believe she has 3 boys. It felt like a million. Not in a bad way, they are great adorable boys, it just meant we were doing something every second. We talked to Chris and Jackie on skype, which was really fun. It made me miss them.
Alright dudes, I think I gotta go eat again.
